1. Introduction

Stepney ("we", "our", or "us") is a free roadside assistance platform that connects drivers with nearby technicians across India. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use the Stepney app or website.

2. Information We Collect

a) Stepney App

Phone number — used for account creation and OTP-based login.
Name — used to personalise your experience.
Location data — your real-time GPS location is used to find nearby technicians and for navigation. Technicians share their location while online.
Service request details — the type of assistance requested and request history.

b) Cricket Predictor Contest

Phone number — collected via OTP for identity verification and to contact the winner.
Name — displayed on the leaderboard and used to identify the winner.
Prediction data — your match predictions and results, used solely to determine the contest winner.

3. How We Use Your Information

To match you with nearby available technicians.
To authenticate you via OTP (we use MSG91 for SMS delivery).
To maintain your request history.
To improve the accuracy and performance of our service.
For contest participants: to record predictions, maintain the leaderboard, and contact the winner.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as necessary to operate the service:

Technicians — can see your approximate location and name when you request help.
MSG91 — receives your phone number solely to deliver the OTP SMS.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the app settings, which permanently removes all your personal data from our systems.

6. Security

We use token-based authentication (Laravel Sanctum) and HTTPS for all API communications. Location data is only transmitted while you are actively using the app.

Stepney is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
